Artist's Description
"The Butterfly" is splash art photography created by a water/milk drop collision. Food coloring is mixed with a water and milk combination to create different colored drops. Each collision is unique and depends on many factors, such as how many drops collided, their angle, and so forth. The shapes created only last for a few milliseconds. These collisions create shapes that allow your imagination to run free and what you see may not be what I see. In this collision, I see a colorful butterfly.
About Michael McKenney
Michael McKenney lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico with his wife, Dorothy. He considers photography to be his passion, as well as a never-ending educational journey. Some of his most popular photographs are the ones using high-speed imaging techniques to create fine art based on water/milk drop collisions. These unique images are of figures that occur in the span of only a few milliseconds, never to be duplicated.
